Source: Winnipeg Free Press - REGINA – The Saskatchewan Party government is pointing to new sales of energy rights as proof the oil and gas industry is bouncing back.
The province says the sale of Crown oil and natural gas rights this month will net the province almost $96 million.
When added to the total for the year, the number is almost $372 million — up from about $51 million for the same time last year.
Energy Minister Bill Boyd says the sales reflect more drilling activity and investment in Saskatchewan’s oilpatch.
Boyd says southeast Saskatchewan appears to be the hot spot, especially in the Weyburn-Estevan area.
He says sales were also brisk around Lloydminister, Kindersley-Kerrobert and Swift Current.
